DHBT Architecture Awards 2023 - over the next few days we will highlight the winners and commendations of the various categories.

Winner: Grangefields
Architect: Turner & Co Consulting
Client: Cripps & Co with Trusley Estate
Cripps & Co is a family-run business that specialises in restoring old buildings and transforming them into the perfect wedding venues full of character and charm.
This project was the renovation of farm buildings near Ashbourne.
As the photos demonstrate, they have been bought back to life with a complete renovation and modernisation, including a new hand-made Emanuel Hendry oak frame in the ceremony room. There is also a new SIPs barn with metal lattice trusses, using the original barn sheeting as the internal liner in celebration of its former use.
The venue has a glass-fronted show kitchen with a French rotisserie. Chrome lights taken from an old warship light up the 7m long oak bar!
Grangefields is open and hosting wedding ceremonies for up to 175 guests.
Judges were very impressed with the attention to detail given to this ambitious project.
