On Sunday 12th February at 2pm DHBT Vice Chair, Barry Joyce, will be hosting a Zoom - 'The Architecture of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site'.
Barry was the person who led the team that put together the nomination, which Her Majesty’s Government submitted to UNESCO for the inscription of THE DERWENT VALLEY MILLS on its World Heritage List.
He will present an illustrated talk on some of the most significant buildings in the World Heritage Site. Not just mills but also workers' houses, schools, chapels, churches and the mill masters' mansion houses.
Of Architecture with a capital 'A' there is very little, but other buildings were immensely influential in the development of the factory system which changed the whole way of life of developed countries.
It is a short presentation- 17 minutes. Barry will take questions after it.
Free to attend - just book on via Eventbrite to receive the Zoom link. Donations very welcome.
