New Volunteers Register at Alderwasley 'Buildings at Risk' app drop-in

Our ‘Buildings at Risk' team were back on the campaign trail this morning, holding a drop-in B@R app information and support session at the beautiful Grade II listed Alderwasley Village Hall.

Heritage Development Officer Anna Cluley, DHBT Trustee, Allan Morrison, and steering group member, Tanya Spilsbury, had an enjoyable morning meeting the needs of the visitors and catching up on the latest ‘Buildings at Risk’ project news. It was also an excellent opportunity for the team to refresh their own knowledge of the app after some exciting new updates.

Existing users were treated to some 1:1 support and tips on how to get the most out of the app, while new volunteers were introduced to the project, with an opportunity to have their questions answered by our knowledgeable team. We were thrilled that we had new users complete their training and register with the project there and then! We also took bookings for follow-up 1:1 sessions to help our new volunteers get to grips with the app on their own devices.

The morning proved a fantastic opportunity to meet volunteers, share project updates and spread the word about our exciting new project. As well as providing direct support, Anna, Allan and Tanya enjoyed the opportunity to share their interest in historic buildings and local heritage with likeminded people.

Holding the session in a Grade II listed building was an added bonus as it could be used as a useful training exercise using the app. As the Hall had already been surveyed by one of DHBT’s dedicated volunteers, the team could also show new users a good example of a completed survey.
