The IHBC is helping support The Derbyshire Historic Buildings (HB) Trust initiative to provide a residential course for heritage students and early career professionals and offer an opportunity to learn directly from professionals working in the heritage sector, so much so that as well offering CPD recognition, the IHBC is also helping our new Support Officer Carla Pianese attend.
IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘We’re delighted to be formally supporting this important initiative, which offers a compact and bite-sized introduction to a wide spectrum of student and early-career interests in built and historic environment conservation practice in the wonderful setting of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site.’
‘As a charity, we’re no less happy to be able to take advantage of the opportunity, and promote attendance there by our new Branch and Events Support Officer, and part-time student, Carla Pianese.’
Heritage Skills Centre Manager at Lincoln Castle, lead School organiser and IHBC Council plus member, Kathryn Banfield said: ‘This is a great opportunity for students undertaking mainstream courses in planning and the built environment or archaeology, as well as professionals who might be new to the conservation sector to get to grips with heritage at risk projects. They’ll visit a host of live sites and meet professionals and craftspeople working in heritage now.’

Delegates will visit some of Derbyshire’s Buildings at Risk and see completed projects. They will leave having gained first-hand experience of heritage and building conservation and gained practical knowledge and skills for saving historic buildings at risk.’
