BBC 'East Midlands Today' broadcast an item on the 23rd September about UNESCO’s warning about the possibility of losing the coveted WORLD HERITAGE SITE accolade for the Derwent Valley Mills.
DHBT Chairman Derek Latham expressed concern at the progressive disrepair of Belper Mills and the owner’s refusal to enter into partnership with the Trust to save them. The programme also highlighted Derby City Council’s actions in giving planning permission for high rise tower blocks which impact on the setting of the Silk Mill in contravention of the WHS Management Plan.
