The recent DHBT visit to ILKON Contemporary Arts in Ilkeston was very enjoyable.
Lucy Withers, the resident artist, explained a lot about the history of the building, why Chris Williamson (architect) saved it (soon to be the RIBA President) and his plan for the future of the centre.
It is a brilliant art gallery, studio and community space.
The interior of the building is so sensitively restored and decorated, by the great architect/ owner himself.
Who knew that Ilkeston had original Andy Warhols?!
